Jan has a broad expertise in individual and collective employment law, including transfers of undertaking, complementary pensions, salary optimisation and benefits. Moreover, he specialises in pension law, insurance law, the governance and structure of pension funds, and all pension issues relating to both the private and the public sector. In addition, he defends his clients’ interests in complex litigation matters with respect to employment law issues, particularly occupational pension schemes. Furthermore, Jan is often asked to draft or amend pension regulations and he confidently handles international employment situations and the pension aspects of corporate transactions.
Jan is a member of the Belgian Association of Pension Institutions (PensioPlus) and participates in several of its specialist working groups which aim at providing high-level input to the government and social partners on legislative proposals. Moreover, he is the author of various publications on his areas of expertise and a regular guest speaker at seminars and conferences.
Jan holds a master’s degree in Law from KU Leuven (2009). He also obtained a complementary master’s degree in Pension Law from KU Leuven in 2013 and a certificate from the multidisciplinary PensioPlus Academy in 2015.
Jan joined the Brussels office of Stibbe in 2014.
