(Junior) Associate Planning & Environment

Our Environment and Planning practice offers full legal assistance in matters of planning and environmental law, ranging from advisory and regulatory work to litigation and enforcement proceedings at regional, national and EU levels. The team is regarded as a reference in the development of planning and environmental law through our involvement in many challenging, politically-sensitive and landmark cases.
To reinforce our team in Brussels, we are looking for a (Junior) Associate. 2 to 4 years of experience would be particularly welcome.
Job description
As a (Junior) Associate Planning & Environment you will:
- handle matters relating to environmental law in the broadest sense of the word, including regulatory, climate change, emission rights and renewable energy, EIA, waste and soil, water, air, and nature conservation at all levels (international, European and Belgian).
- advise clients (public authorities, property developers, and private individuals) on project development, permits, planning and zoning, expropriation, nuclear law and ESG regulations;
- work closely together with fellow (Junior) Associates and lawyers from our various practice areas;
- be given the opportunity to advise, negotiate, and be involved in legal proceedings;
- sharpen your language skills as you will work in Dutch, French and English;
- be given space and abundant possibilities to further develop yourself and satisfy your ambition and needs for high achievement via tailor-made Stibbe Academy workshops focusing on legal, language, ICT and soft skills.
The ideal candidate
You have a Belgian law degree and an excellent academic record. You are a native Dutch speaker with fluency in English and French (both written and spoken). You are particularly interested in environmental law and public law. You have preferably gained a first experience of 2 to 4 years in another reputable law firm. You are focused on client relationship and high-quality advice and have excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit.
