Wouter den Hollander specialises in complex litigation and advisory work in both private and public sectors. His work includes mass damage claims, ESG, director’s and government liability, and consumer law.
Examples of recent work:
- summary proceedings for a major Dutch supermarket company against a municipality relating to the enforcement of a permit and promises (Didam-case law)
- advisory work for big four audit firms on liability matters and class actions
- proceedings concerning sustainability requirements for the use of biomass for electricity production
- mass claim proceedings against the Dutch state regarding compensation of war damage of Dutch citizens in former Dutch Indies during Second World War.
Before joining Stibbe, Wouter was a lecturer in private law at Leiden University for six years. In June 2016, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on the concept of the protective scope (relativiteitsleer; Schutznormdoctrine) of statutory provisions in Dutch tort law.
Wouter has (co)authored numerous blogs and journal articles on ESG developments, civil procedures, contract law and tort law. He is a member of the editorial board of the Dutch civil law journal Maandblad voor Vermogensrecht (MvV).
