Guan Schaiko
Guan focuses on zoning, planning, and environmental law. He assists and advises public authorities, property developers, and private individuals on the regulatory aspects of project development, land use initiatives, and nature conservation.

Guan specialises in nature and biodiversity law and nuclear energy law. He has a particular interest in national and international human rights protection. In addition, he has gained work experience from the diplomatic world: firstly from the Belgian Permanent Mission in Geneva, and subsequently from the Belgium’s Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Development Cooperation.
He is the author of several publications on the national and international protection of human rights and on public law. He is also a core member of the editorial staff for the law journal Milieu- en Energierecht (MER), which focuses on environmental law and energy law.
Guan holds a master’s degree in law from KU Leuven (2009) and a European master’s degree in human rights and democratisation from the European Inter-University Center in Venice and Seville (2010). Furthermore, he was a teaching assistant at the public law department of KU Leuven from 2010 until 2014.
Guan joined the Brussels office of Stibbe in 2011.
