Bastiaan advises clients on the implementation of major (re)development and infrastructure projects as well as complex permit and contamination issues.
Bastiaan has a particular interest in the legal framework for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). In the area of dispute resolution, he has extensive experience in proceedings before the Council of State (Raad van State/Conseil d’Etat), the Council for Permit Disputes (Raad voor Vergunningsbetwistingen) and the civil courts. In addition, he is a member of the editorial team for various law journals focusing on environmental law and town and country planning, and has published several articles on these topics.
He graduated in law from KU Leuven in 2009 and holds a complementary master’s degree in public and administrative law from the Université libre de Bruxelles (2010). He also holds a postgraduate degree in government and mediation from KU Leuven (2016).
Bastiaan joined the Brussels office of Stibbe in 2012.
