Anneleen’s promotion takes effect on 1 July 2024, and we welcome Lothar as a partner to our firm on 1 August 2024. These strategic appointments reinforce our Real Estate, Construction & Projects practice and our Energy, Industry & Utilities practice, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional services to our clients.

Anneleen Quirynen: Real Estate, Construction & Projects Partner

Anneleen Quirynen, who began her career at Stibbe in 2012, specialises in advising on large-scale public-private partnerships (PPPs), drafting and negotiating Design, Build, Finance, Maintain and Operate (DBFM(O)) contracts, public real estate projects, and creating bespoke property law structures. With her versatile skill set, Anneleen offers comprehensive advice from project inception to completion, drawing on her extensive experience in managing complex projects. She also provides tailored assistance to general contractors, project developers, architects, and third parties throughout all stages of construction projects. Anneleen brings a wealth of expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, mediation, and managing legal proceedings. The partner appointment of Anneleen, along with Rony Vermeersch's 30+ years of experience and Matthias Maselis's successful transactional real estate practice, ensures the continued strength and future growth of Stibbe’s Real Estate, Construction & Projects practice.

Lothar Van Driessche: Energy, Industry & Utilities Partner

Lothar Van Driessche joins Stibbe with profound transactional expertise and significant experience in energy and infrastructure projects. His deep understanding of energy law, power and gas markets and regulated infrastructure assets is complemented by his experience in risk analysis, negotiating and drafting commercial energy contracts, and advising on transactions in the energy sector overall. Lothar’s skills and expertise enhance our capabilities in the energy sector, thereby strengthening our energy practice to comprehensively address all aspects of energy law and transactions. Lothar will lead the Energy, Industry and Utilities practice in Brussels, working closely together with senior energy regulatory specialist Frederik Vandendriessche, and assisted by specialists from our Corporate & Finance, Real Estate, Construction & Projects, Environment & Planning, Public, and IP practices.

Wouter Ghijsels, Managing Partner of Stibbe Brussels: "We congratulate Anneleen and Lothar on this significant milestone in their careers and warmly welcome Lothar as our new colleague. By appointing next-generation talent Anneleen, Stibbe is investing in the further growth of its Construction & Projects practice. Anneleen Quirynen and Rony Vermeersch are eager to continue shaping the Belgian infrastructure landscape and securing Stibbe’s leading market position in PPPs and DBFMO contracts.
The appointment of Lothar Van Driessche as a partner in our Energy, Industry & Utilities practice is a logical step in the continued development of our full-service model, enabling Stibbe to assist clients with all aspects of their transition to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future. I am convinced that with these new partner appointments, Stibbe will maintain its leading market position in these practice areas for years to come."
