Stibbe assisted a client in the pharmaceutical sector with conducting an in-depth legal assessment regarding the scope and modalities of the safety features to be added to (the packaging of) medicinal products.

The legal assessment allowed our client to identify the legal grounds on which it could be exempt from the obligation to add safety features and to identify also cost-effective ways of implementing them. Considering that fulfilling this obligation requires thousands of production lines to be adapted, the implementation cost for the pharmaceutical industry would be massive.
