Branda Katan appointed Professor by Special Appointment at Leiden University
Leiden University has appointed Branda Katan Professor by Special Appointment for the Corporate Litigation chair as from 1 March 2023. The chair was proposed by the Association for Corporate Litigation.
As the holder of the chair, Branda will contribute to both education and research in the field of corporate litigation, in particular in the field of ESG, class actions and group company liability. Branda will teach courses as part of the Corporate Law master’s programme, conduct research and act as supervisor for a PhD candidate.
Branda will hold the chair for a period of five years as from 1 March 2023, for one day a week.

Branda is a partner and lawyer in Stibbe’s Litigation practice. She specializes in collective actions and in other complex disputes, often with cross-border, corporate or regulatory aspects. She regularly publishes in that field, as well as on the Dutch class action regime. She holds master’s degrees in Law and Philosophy, and studied at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the University of Amsterdam, University College London and Université Paris I Pathéon-Sorbonne. She obtained her PhD (cum laude) from Radboud University Nijmegen in 2017 on the attribution of knowledge to legal entities.
