Jan-Maarten also has experience in corporate and transactional projects for both local and international clients.
His practice involves a wide range of litigation processes, such as arbitration, securities litigation, shareholders’ and joint-venture related disputes, directors’ and officers’ liability, M&A litigation, corporate governance disputes, and inquiry proceedings before the Enterprise Court in the Netherlands.
In 2021, he worked as a full-time secondee at Picnic for three months, where he held the position of corporate legal counsel. In 2022 and 2023, he was a full-time secondee at Herbert Smith Freehills in London for almost a year in total.
Jan-Maarten has written numerous articles and case commentaries, e.g. on the statutory buy-out procedure and dispute settlement procedure, the legal design of Dutch basic health insurance, and CSR policy. His master’s thesis on the relationship between the obligation to complain and directors’ and officers’ liability appeared in book form.
He is a member of the Dutch Association of Corporate Litigation Lawyers (VCL) and the Dutch Association for Commercial Law (Vereeniging Handelsrecht). Jan-Maarten is editor of a legal journal (Tijdschrift voor vennootschapsrecht, rechtspersonenrecht en ondernemingsbestuur).
