Collective Actions for mass damages
On 15 November 2016 the bill on the settlement of mass claims in a class action was submitted to the House of Representatives. This bill seeks to introduce the possibility of collective redress. The aim of the bill is to promote an efficient and effective collective settlement of mass claims.
On 11 April 2017, the bill was declared controversial and will not be dealt with until there is a new cabinet. This tool contains the latest developments.
Netherlands Commercial Court
The Netherlands Commercial Court is a new international commercial court, which opened its doors in Amsterdam on 1 January 2019. The major 'selling point' of the Court is that the entire proceedings will be conducted in English, including any written statements, hearings, communication with the Court and hearings.
