Stibbe represents Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm, on its strategic partnership with Achmea and the merger of Lifetri’s and Achmea’s pension and life portfolios. This collaboration establishes a joint venture, Achmea Pension & Life Insurance N.V., as a top three player in the sector.
Sixth Street will acquire 20% of the shares in the joint venture by contributing Lifetri and paying EUR 445 million to Achmea, which will hold the remaining 80%. The transaction is subject to regulatory and other approvals, which are expected in the second half of 2025. The joint venture aims for a 20% market share in the pension buy-out market, leveraging anticipated reforms in the Dutch pension system. This partnership also opens new investment opportunities and value creation in the pension and annuity market.
