On 28 March 2018, carrier Connexxion launched the largest fleet of electric buses to date. The zero emission buses will be used to transport travellers to and from Schiphol Airport, showing that the Netherlands is a front runner in the field of sustainable public transport in Europe.
Jan Reinier van Angeren, partner in administrative law at Stibbe in Amsterdam, specialising in the financing of and regulation in public transport, advised Vervoerregio Amsterdam on the funding of the acquisition of these buses by Connexxion. Read more about this in this FD artice.
Coincidentally, on the same day, Jan Reinier van Angeren and Rein van Helden, partner in banking and finance at Amsterdam, spoke on this very subject at the Mobility Fast Forward event. During their presentation, they highlighted the opportunities in the current system, government stimulation, sustainable public transport and adequate financing.
