Zafar specialises in complex insolvency, restructuring, and commercial litigation and arbitration.
He has assisted in bankruptcy proceedings of various large corporations, and in complex cross-border financial restructurings. He has a special interest in the Court Approval of a Private Composition (Prevention of Insolvency) Act (Wet homologatie onderhands akkoord; WHOA).
Zafar earned a cum laude master’s degree in Private Law from the University of Amsterdam. He also completed a master’s degree in Law at the University of Cambridge, specialising in English corporate insolvency law, international climate change law, and law and economics. At Cambridge, he graduated with first-class honours and received the Faculty Prize for the Economics of Law and Regulation.
