His practice covers corporate litigation, enforcement of judgments, injunctive relief, security interests, post M&A litigation, contract and commercial law, and product liability. In addition to his general litigation practice, Pieter has built up extensive expertise in the field of insolvency litigation by regularly assisting clients in various types of (cross-border) insolvency litigations. These often involve fraud and wrongful trading, assisting clients whose acquisition of distressed activities under the court’s supervision is being challenged, defending the rights of creditors or debtors in case of insolvency of the contracting party, etc. He also advises clients in financial distress on all legal aspects of (in-court) restructuring or the cessation of activities. Moreover, Pieter acts as liquidator.
Pieter is a member of INSOL Europe, a European organisation for professionals specialising in insolvency and restructuring. He is also the author of various publications on his areas of expertise and a regular guest speaker at seminars and conferences.
Pieter graduated in Law from the University of Antwerp in 2004. He also obtained a diploma of specialised studies in International and European Law from the Université catholique de Louvain in 2005. Pieter was a part-time assistant at the Institute for the Law of Obligations (Instituut voor Verbintenissenrecht) of KU Leuven from 2007 to 2010.
He joined the Brussels office of Stibbe in 2005.
