Aernout specialises in complex commercial litigation, often involving cross-border aspects. He represents and advises both Dutch and international clients on a broad range of civil law issues, including complicated contractual disputes, tort litigation, auditor liability cases, post-M&A disputes and competition damages litigation.

Aernout also has experience in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (including public company takeovers) and private equity investments.
Before joining Stibbe, Aernout obtained a master’s degree (cum laude) in Corporate Law from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2022).
