Jan has extensive experience in advising clients in Europe, Asia and the US on complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, add-on acquisitions and disposals. He also advises on equity investments, corporate restructurings and general corporate and corporate governance matters. Jan provides tailor-made and commercially pragmatic advice to clients and is recognised for his strong technical expertise by the leading international legal directories.
Jan spent five years in Stibbe’s Hong Kong office, which added a wealth of international experience to his transactional expertise. Benefiting from his particular knowledge in Asia outbound cross-border transactions into Europe, he now leads Stibbe’s China desk.
Jan serves as co-chair of the Cross-Border Investment Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) and as director of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. He is is also a member of the Tax & Legal Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce.
Jan doubles up as Stibbe’s international relations partner, being responsible for coordinating the firm’s relations with other firms across the globe.
Jan graduated in Law from KU Leuven in 2002. He also obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Corporate and Securities Law from King’s College London in 2003. He joined the Brussels office of Stibbe in 2003.
